Hands down, today has been my worst day in Korea.

My school is refusing to pay me because I've ruined the "credit" (their words) by refusing to work at another school (illegally) this morning.

After being told the story about "bad credit", I was compared to "The boy who cried wolf" and asked, "Do you know what happens to people with bad credit, like the boy who cried wolf? What happened to the boy? He died. His credit was bad and he died."

I KID YOU NOT.

They told me that they wont give me a letter of release, that they don't trust me because of my "bad credit", and that they will withhold my pay in the future in case I decide to pull a runner. Many more ridiculous things were said. WTF brought this on?

The school is Korea Foreign Language Institute and is in the historic town of Buyeo. The owner's names are Tomboy (wife) and T (husband). Again I
kid you not about their "English" names.

Tomorrow I'm calling the labour board (as soon as I figure out how) and am going to the police station to inform them that my life has been threatened.

Korea Foreign Language Institute

You've been warned.

that totally sucks sorry to hear about this. My piece of advice is to keep your cool. your boss wants to paint you as a crazy waygook. I would leave the letter until after you get it sorted as they will use stuff like that against you. Also revenge is a dish best served cold Twisted Evil

It's kind of sad actually. I spent over two years teaching in Taiwan and got majorly screwed for my first five months there. I swore that it would never happen again. I did my homework before coming to Korea. Life just seems to have it in for me I guess...

Listen to CLG. She's giving good advice there. Stay sane. Acting in any other way works to their advantage.

Okay. I'll do so. I'm feeling a bit irrational now (justifiably so I hope!).

Thanks.

No, totally justified. Don't take their crap, but at the same time, keep control of yourself and don't say or do things that will be used against you.

If he harms you physically or tries to do do so in anyway pound him within an inch of his life and drag his face along the pavement while you're at it
