Ansan, if you enjoy smoking cloves. Also good for the relatively large number of foreign restaurants.

Suji's far better than most places, relatively clean, parks--
there's an excellent concrete Skateboard park there, called X-park, and it boasts a subway station or two.....

Bundang's my choice for the moment, which is just north of Suji-- Bundang/Suji, it's all the same place to me.

I deplore Gangnam, Seoul, Jongno, etc, for the congestion and general trendiness, but you they're surely the best places to shop, to get those few things you absolutely need.

But, as far as standard of living is concerned, Bundang and Suji, you can't go wrong.

There's a saying in Korea: 천당 다음, 분당, which means "Bundang is the next best to heaven"

best restaurants, cafes, I've been to in Korea, by far, and the best combination of urbanism, city planning, and parkscape, imo.

apgujeong is the best location in Seoul I believe. Right in the middle of the city (basically), with a pretty much straight-shot subway to the upper areas of Seoul (college nightlife) and buses everywhere else

i'm wondering if someone can post their top 5 places in korea with pics or videos of the place they like so everyone can have a better idea of the places rather than random names of places? that would be more helpful i think for someone like me and others who are considering where the best spots are and why?

I'm a big fan of Seoul and Busan...

I think Seoul can be compared to NYC.

Busan can be compared to San Francisco.

Both gorgeous and awesome places!

Definitely would say Seoul.

I live below the river near by Gangnam but would probably opt for apgujeong or ichon. Anywhere central is prime. otherwise you'll end up only hanging out in the south side or in hongdae. It seems like most people are moving to HBC (haebangchon) next to itaewon but if you want to hang out with locals and get to know the city better i'd stay away from that area.

The easiest would be to google the places (as I'm doing right now).

For basic information, Wikipedia is a great source. Here are a few:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bundang
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daegu
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seoul

Also, try googling or youtubing the name of the city + video and you'll get tons of stuff poping up! Otherwise, personal blogs are a great source, and there are lots vith different aspects of Korea.

If you want a more touristy sight, try the government's tourism page:
http://english.visitkorea.or.kr/

Or any other tourism pages for Korea:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_South_Korea
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g294196-South_Korea-Vacations.html
http://www.lifeinkorea.com/travel2/57

Small edit: I just remembered; for the "top 5 cities", it unfortunately is based on personal preferences (as you will notice in this forum). Those who are more outdoorsy will list ocmpletely different cities than those who prefer massive cities.

I know this has already been partially addressed, but what about for nightlife?

I'm an urban person, like having shows to go see, places to socialize at night, meet other foreign people as well as koreans.

Are there any places comparable to Seoul and Busan in this regard?

Regarding Seoul, any specific cities in the Seoul area I should avoid?

Thanks! The information here is quite helpful.
