Here's the latest on the Skytrax survey.

Special awards: Best International Transit Airport (#2),
It seems Incheon airport is great for transit passengers and
Best Airport Washrooms (#2)
Wonder if all those transit passengers are included in the figures for tourists coming to Korea?
This is why the airport is awesome.
"Why it's awesome: Incheon is the largest airport in South Korea serving passengers with over 70 airlines. The airport features a museum showcasing Korean culture and a center for traditional Korean culture where travelers can enjoy performances while they wait for their connecting flight."
Anyone ever seen any of these performances? |

Incheon really is an amazing airport. A lot of thought clearly went into the planning and design of the place. The airport is huge, but laid out in such a way that it doesn't take an inordinate amount of time to get from concourse to concourse, point A to point B. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes to get through security. Plenty of smoking rooms, lots of electrical outlets, decent and varied food options (Jamba Juice, what?), clean, Korean Air flight attendants waltzing around ...
The last time I was there a classical quartet was playing at the front of the terminal, but nobody really seemed to be paying attention. There were a bunch of cultural 'houses' (IIRC, one on each concourse,) manned by hanbok-clad, where you can do some art related stuff and some historical reading.
My only complaint is accessibility. Yes, bus service is adequate, but getting there by train isn't exactly a piece of cake if you don't live near Seoul Station. |

Yes, I've seen them.
It is a very nice airport and I guess if you travel often that can be important to you.
But since I don't fly Korean Air or Asiana I always have to go either up or down two or is it three escalators and take a shuttle to the new terminal. If you're new to Korea, it is good practice for using the subway system. |

I do like it, and I can't really name any better ones, but it has one major shortcoming:
No good bookshop. There are 100 duty free shops but nothing even close to resembling a good bookshop.
Apart from that the place is fine.
Oh yeah.. Why is every flight I take now a subway ride away? Before that new terminal was built it was a lot more convenient. |

Apparently only domestic airlines, and some their code shares, are assigned to terminal 1. All the other foreign airlines get terminal 2. |

For me also is the fact that restaurants close far too early there. The vast majority close at 9pm....there is only Kraze Burger and 1 or 2 other restaurants open. Not great for an international airport that have flights operating until at least 1am. |

Or even a little convenience store..I wanted to buy a newspaper after going through security but was faced with duty free after duty free store. Even in the new terminal it was the same.. I think if places like Pearson that have places like that even restaurants that you can sit down and have a beer at. I haven't seen it at Incheon. That being said, it's a nice airport that's laid out nicely. Putting all the foreign airlines into the new terminal is a bit of a pain, seems that you have to walk for an eternity after you get off the plane before you arrive at immigration. |
