Thank you 2.0

Steelrails, you've derailed this thread a bit. What we are talking about is not an inability to abide by common safety standards, but an unwillingness. One cannot fault those who cannot afford to stay safe, but those who choose to allow their kids to roam around the backseats of cars are fully to blame for their carelessness.

These are the same people who can afford to send their kids to hagwans. They can afford a safety seat, or (gosh!) to use the FREE seatbelts.

Sure, poor people can't always afford to abide by the same safety standards that many of us hold dear, but that's not the big issue here. Those truly at fault are relatively well off people, compared to the poor family on the scooter.

And those well off people better start buying my "Fendi" baby seats at 2,000,000 won a pop.

Gouge and legislate the stupids who are financially well-off, show patience with the poor and traditional. That's what I believe in all of this.

Your idea of well off is limited to only those able to afford plastic surgery and designer dog carriers, it seems.

I even italicized the word relatively. While not rich, many parents send their kids to hagwans. If they can afford that, they can surely afford to spend between 100,000 and 400,000 for something that will keep their kid alive long enough to GO to the mentioned hagwans. One of my coworkers just had a baby and bought hers (a really well-made one) used from an "online mall" for 150,000. MOST people of adequate means (I'm not talking about the family of 84 on a scooter) can afford this one-time purchase.

As for seat belts: THEY COME WITH THE CAR FOR FREE! Pretty nifty, huh?

I just saw the most dangerous/reckless/bone-headed thing today.

Some jackbum was on a motorcycle with one of those baskets behind the driver. What was in the basket, you ask? A baby. About 1 year old or so.
