The German economy is all but doomed to collapse faster than a lawn chair with Rosie O'Donnell on it, thus its energy policy matters little.

Germanys working-age population is likely to decrease 30 per cent over the next few decades, says Steffen Krhnert of the Berlin Institute for Population Development. Rural areas will see a massive population decline and some villages will simply disappearGermany will become a weak economic power in the future.

You look at those old speeches of der Fhrer roaring on about Germanys need for lebensraum. Few people have ever needed it less.

Unless immigrants come in to make up the numbers.

Which they are and in large numbers.

The economy grew by 3.6% last year (best year since reunification) and is expected to grow by 2.5-2.6% this year.

Unemployment in Germany, and in particular Berlin and the eastern Bundeslnder is decreasing (again for the first time since reunification). It now stands at 6.1% according to the ILO.

Inflation is running at 2.1% as opposed to the 4.4% in the UK.

The cost of living here is low, the salaries are high, there are plenty of jobs, lots of people moving here at the moment, the economy is surging ahead, 90% of the demand that is pushing the conomy forward is coming from domestic demand, full employment is once again something that people are talking about here. Plenty of people here are happy that the govt. has caved to popular opinion (and there was strong opposition to the continuation of these nuclear power stations way before Fukushima) and will be investing in and switching to renewable energy sources sooner than planned. Sorry Sergio, but I live here, you don't, and you have no idea what you are talking about.

Hey, good to see there's some country doing okay with its head screwed on straight.

Well if Portugal and Spain go under forget those plans. The previous German chancellor hooked Germany on Russian natural gas. He was apparently on the Russian payroll since he took a plum position with Gazprom after he left office.

Speaking of Crazy Greenies.

This guy gets paid $170,000 annum be the Australian Government to spout this socialist Gaia rubbish.

It is however probably $170,000 well spent, as more people hear alarmists like Flim Flan Flannery talk their garbage, the more people are turning their backs AGW and "settled science" BS.

Sorry Kuros don't have any work. Just my speculation. Seems likely though since Russia sells petroleum and needs the German market, nuclear power would cost the Russian a share of the market. So they would oppose nuclear power in Germany. Shroeder made a big deal with the Russians and then cashed in with a job working for them . The free market at work. It's not pretty.

Exactly, a decline in the working age population isn't necessarily a bad thing when you have such high levels of unemployment in certain areas of the country. The real barrier to future economic growth is not having enou
