Is it possible to spray paint my bike a popping color without removing the paint already on it?

Also, where can I find these things:
-spray paint
-goggles

My bike is currently a dark auburn color and I want a red, orange or yellow color to it. Definitely must be neon bright.

Any answers are much appreciated!

The paint on your bike might provide a good surface to paint over if it is 'keyed' first, google for an explanation on that. It might be the popping colour you want will be dulled by the colour underneath, you might have to key, primer then paint for best results.

You need to find a DIY neighborhood for the supplies, goggles will be easy in the supermarket though I'd of thought. Theres a big shop near me selling industrial paints that has thousands of spray cans too, there must be something around your area similar.

Would like to see pics of the project though! Sounds fun Smile

I found sanding sponges at Home Plus. So much for being lazy on the sanding! Now, I'm looking for paint. Busan might have more options than Gimhae though...what store/where in Busan? I saw one paint store not too far from my apartment, I'll check to see if they've got spray cans. Thanks for the help! And I'll def. post pictures of everything on my blog for sure!

Scotchbrites are good, rough dishwashing things for pans, to paint over paint you want to rough it up not sand the surface. Sanding generally leads to flaking paint later. A thin coat of grey etch primer will help going from a dark color to a light one, it also helps when you mixing different paint types.
If you sand back to metal you"ll need the etch, very few off the shelf spray paints will stick to bare metal.

I took a glance at your blog.

How exactly do you expect to paint your bicycle well without taking it apart?

Bicycles are easy to disassemble with a few tools. Respraying the bike when it's still assembled will net you tons of over-spray.

I commend you for your efforts.
