A sculpture by Jeff Koons, whose works are among the most expensive of any living artist in the world, will be displayed in heart of Seoul.

A source at Shinsegae said on Thursday that Koons' "Sacred Heart" will be installed in the Trinity Garden on the rooftop of the sixth floor of the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store on April 18, and be opened to the public from April 29.

Shinsegae reportedly purchased the work directly from the artist. The price has not been disclosed, but it is thought to be in the W30 billion (US$1=W1,089) range as that is what the Koons sculptures "Hanging Heart" and "Balloon Flower" fetched at auction in 2007 and 2008, respectively.

Koons is scheduled to visit Korea at the end of this month and have an autograph signing session.

Does anyone know when and where Koons will meet the public?

That sculpture looks stupid. I could have made a handheld version with 5 bucks and trip to the arts and craft store.

What happened to artists with real talent? You know, like carving life like representations of notable people from hard stone. That I respect. This "ooo look for the meaning.. my work is abstract that's why I'm so misunderstood" blah blah blah. You do abstract because you failed the carving test and probably flunked out of art school.

The sculptures that you're talking about are often done by a workshop full of workers, not one artist, even if it's just got one artist's name on it.

It doesn't need to be representational to be art.

(I still think Jeff Koons is a dick.)

She looks like some kind of washed up porn star in the 90's.

They've been divorced since 1998 so probably not.

Jeff Koons rules. Didn't he make a statue of Britney Spears on all fours, giving birth?

Yeah, on a bearskin rug. He also made a really creepy one of Michael Jackson with Bubbles sitting on his lap with the same perm and in the same gold outfit.
