				| I just called my local police dept. to make an appointment to get fingerprinted, and they asked me if I have any paperwork specifying information about why I need the fingerprinting......But he seemed unsure when I seemed unsure.
Do most people just walk in, pay the fee, get the fingerprint card and walk out? That's what I did when I was in South Korea.

 thanks..

				| That's all I did (in Colorado). I didn't even need to fill out the employer section on the fingerprint card (since I don't have the job yet). | |

				| Wish I had read this first. Went to the police dept. WITHOUT calling first, and the lady refused to fingerprint me. She was DOING NOTHING, chatting with the other lazy coworkers, when after standing there for a while I had to get their attention. Said I had to make an appointment.
Made an appointment, went back TO THE VERY SAME LADY DOING THE VERY SAME THING as the last time I was there, and she fingerprinted me.

I had to write on the card what I wanted it for (didn't have to specify employer). Said the FBI would return it if it didn't at least say "job". I guess they do different levels of checks or something. Also some other stuff had to be written on it.
