Anyone currently working at this particular CDI branch? Anyone used to work for this branch in Imae?

I am concerned about the potential (based on the sample contract) for working mandatory overtime and/or weekends. Also wondering about the schools record of paying into National Pension, Health Care and the tax rate.

Thanks

The CDI chain is facing a class-action suit against them by both Korean and foreign teachers for their stunt of falsely declaring said teachers as independent contractors to avoid paying into the national health and pension plans and withholding the correct amount of taxes. What more do you need to know?

I hear there are plenty of Wonderland hagweons looking for teachers.

CDI safely goes into my "never work for them" folder.

Yeah... I am new to this and one look at the contract told me to do the same. Would Reading Town or Avalon be in that folder as well? Please say no... Smile

I have a buddy that works for a CDI branch, he really enjoys his job. Theres no serious overtime and everyone is pretty chill from what he tells me.

Bundang is also pretty happening, and not a bad place to be.

Bottom line is, trust your gut not what people tell you. If things look or sound fishy they probably are. Remember that even if you talk to a current foreigner working there, he may not be 100% honest because he could get deuced on (this happened to me, "yeah totally great place easy job" and it turned out to be a nightmare.)

Check which CDI it is. Bundang is huge and there are several. I've heard rumors that CDI Sunae charges it's instructors for every photocopy and doesn't allow them to sit down, ever.

As for Imae, I worked there a year ago and had a pleasant experience overall. My coworkers were great and the management at the time was generally rather pleasant. Made a fair bit of money and enjoyed the curriculum. However there were no vacation days, literally none, and the summer / winter intensives got, well, intensive.
