Seems like there are more options.

The F2-S (points) is one way

The F2-99 is another if you've been here five years and make enough money.

The F5-A is yet another option. You have to speak korean at level 3 though

Next August (30th birthday!) I should have enough points for the F2-S visa, so I'll be trying for that one.

Interesting that they don't want to give the visa to older people. WTF?

Age - (maximum 25 points)
18-24 years old = 20 points
25-29 years old = 23 points
30-34 years old = 25 points
35-39 years old = 23 points
40-44 years old = 20 points
45-50 years old = 18 points
51 or older = 15 points

I'm not that old, I just don't understand the reasoning behind making it harder for older people to get the visa. It's actually a really depressing policy. We all know the job market is tougher for old people, but why should there also be government mandated discrimination?

Because older people are more likely to retire, take advantage of the NHI, and generally will pay less taxes during their remaining years than a younger person? While it might not be fair, there is a logic behind it. I think the main reason is that they want people who are in their prime years for working.

Adding to that, they have a declining birth rate. A society needs approximately 2.1 live births per woman just to maintain a population. The rate in Korea is around 1.15, well below what is needed. I.E., not only do they NOT want old people leaching off of the system here, they NEED young people to pay INTO the system.
