|

I was wondering if there is some kind of long hiking trail in Korea.
Is there something like the AT or the PCT in Korea? Meaning if I were so inclined I could start at say Goseong or Yanggu and walk to Haenam or Jindo. Basically a way to walk to from the top of the country to the bottom. I just did a big section of the AT. I have to go back to work in Korea but I still want to walk. Crazy huh? Once it gets in your blood.....
Thanks. |

I'm an ex AT'er (there are a few around I think).
Check out Simon Winchester's book. He walked from Seoul down to the bottom of Korea.
Also, there is a trail around Jeju Island. I'm thinking about doing it. It's kind of hard to find good information in English, but I think it would be simple enough just to do with a map from tourist information at the Jeju airport. |

I was going to suggest this as well. But you got it wrong, he started on Jeju and walked north. |

I suppose you would have to purchase a comfy pair of flippers to accomplish this |

Yes, my memories of it are quite vague, obviously! |

Not sure of the name but there is an old road that ran from busan to Seoul. Now just a trail. The Korean Herald did a piece on it a few years ago. |

The Baekdudaegan trail sounds like what you're after, I'd be interested in hiking it as well.
*End of friendly*
This.
There is also a guidebook in English. You can do a search. Authors are (I think) Roger Shepherd, Andrew Something-or-other, with contributions by David Mason. |
