Does anyone know if schools use our monthly wage + housing allowance when calculating our monthly deduction for medical insurance?

My health insurance just jumped from 69.xxx to 256.xxx. I know the NHIC rate increased a tiny bit, but I think something is amiss. Thanks in advance for any input Smile

I can only say that mine hasn't changed (it's only gone up a bit because my pay went up as well). I work for PS. Are you sure have been paying the correct amount all along? If it hasn't been quite enough, then they could have caught you up all at once. That happened to me once at the end of a contract. I called and confirmed it was the correct amount with NHIC. You could give them a call, (sorry, I can't provide the number offhand).

Calling? Why didn't I think of that? Razz

I just spoke with a nice lady at NHIC and you were right. They weren't taking out as much as they should have, so the extra money is to catch me up. Thanks!!

If anyone stumbles upon this thread and needs the English number for NHIC, here it is: 02-390-2000

If they provide more then they can charge more. I mean if a major surgery is covered at a higher amount, then I'll pay more for the insurance. But I suspect people would want to have that choice as an option and not make it manditory. Just my 2 cents worth.

Blade, it's my understanding that they take a lump sum out of 1 month. This happened to my husband in his most recent paycheck as well.

No problem. Just be sure to check next month's pay, in case they accidentally do it again.
