The U.S. appears to be in decline. It's producing less and less. The gov is giving tax breaks to the rich and the number of poor is growing. The gov continues to blow American tax payer's money on wars (53 cents of every tax dollar) China, on the other hand, continues to grow.

Any thoughts?

Who is better? Who should have an iron fist rule over the entire world????

I choose America any day.

underinformed overspending populace poised to become the next world power? having experienced china first hand for the last two years, i can say that it's all a hype and will definitely be spit taking my morning coffee if that ever becomes the reality. the chinese, at least this generation, is hopeless. the key they're lacking is education.

Hype. ChinaGov today are a bunch of fossilized cowards holding real progress at bay.

Let me be the millionth person to say that their economy is a soggy paper tiger, and can be brought low by outside powers.

In 5 years, I predict internal revolution before anything else.

China needs to develop its own domestic market more and sell Chinese made goods to its own people instead of relying on the U.S. market.

I feel that what we're seeing in the U.S. is the elite "cashing out" and hiding their money overseas. The middle and working classes are irrelevant to them. It's pretty much "take the money and run." The U.S. economy probably will collapse unless there's a huge and bloody revolution.

It's difficult to predict where China is going. In terms of education, I've heard that there are many foreign students in American universities who, upon graduation will return to China education in hand.

Yeah I hope people are wrong because I don't look forward to the day China becomes the world's super power. They don't even give their own citizens rights and control what they do. But don't ever mention this to a Chinese person as they get super super super defensive.

They get their comments deleted off website forums by the government, can't use facebook, can't use twitter etc etc

Just because they have a piece of toilet paper that they paid $+100K for doesn't mean they will change chinese society for the better. When they get back to their country, the culture and political system will crush their creativity their ability to think outside the box. Innovation and new scientific discovery will still remain in the west, especially the United States. Take a trip to silicon valley and you will see what I mean. China, Korea and Asia in general will never produce a Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerburg, Steve Chen, or a Jerry Yang. The elites in those country don't want that to happen.
