Hi all! New to this forum, would like to work in Korea at some point this year. Been looking at job posts but have no idea about where to go! The names in the ads mean nothing to me!

I'm originally from London but am currently working in small-town Spain (pop. 20k where I am). Many on Dave's have cited Cohiba's rules and there seems to be a lot of support for Seoul but I left London for a reason - mainly to get out of huge cities.

I'm in my early 30s and don't mind a quieter life. I'd also like to be somewhere "pretty". Busan? Jeju? Other? I'd love to hear your opinions and suggestions. Cheers Smile

If you left London to get away from it then Seoul is not the answer.

One of the new commuter cities of Seoul/Busan would be a better bet. They have been designed to have parks/greenery as much as possible.

Hi Setaro! Thanks for the suggestion. I'm looking into Busan commuter cities now. Do you know the names of any to give me a head start? Ta!

To be relatively close to Busan, try Changwon out. Now that bridge has been built Geoje might be worth a try as well now. I'd recommend Ilsan or Bundang if you want to be close to Seoul.

I'll second Changwon. It's a beautiful city - love the place.

Maybe consider somewhere like Yeosu, Cheonan, Pohang or Gyeongju, too.

Hope you enjoy your time in Korea, wherever you decide to choose Smile

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be checking those places out. Somebody might have posted this before but in case anyone's interested I came across this blog by a guy who went to Changwon to TEFL. It's a few years old but is an interesting read. Here's the link http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~melmoth/korea/changwon.html

Anyone got any experience of Jeju? It's marketed as the Korean Hawaii but I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing!
