Hi all,

Heading to Seoul for the weekend. I have stayed in cheap accommodation in Busan and had no hassle just dropping into a love motel on the day.

Any cheap accomodation around Nambu Terminal?

Should one book in advance?

Phone numbers or websites would be a god send !

Thanks.

Nambu terminal is the mecca for love motels. There are tons just around the corner from the station. When you come out the main doors, down the steps, cross the street. Then walk down the hill. The first or second road that leads into the block you'll them all lit up. I've stayed at Cello and Piano there. Boith were great. Big, nice, new, and clean. I think 50k or 60k a night. If you want to splurge there are nicer ones for 80k and 100k a night. You should have no problem finding a place by just popping in (unless it's a holiday?)

Decolyon beat me to it. Yea man, there's a crapload of love motels near Nambu and they are nice. I stayed in one my first year here straight off the plane. 50,000/night and very clean with full shower with jets all down the wall, king size bed, 42" LCD tv and it got channels 86 and 87 Wink

Just walk out of Nambu terminal and head towards Keyote Station. Half way there hang a left. There are tons. I stayed at Hotel Art.

My Korean friend said this weekend is called golden weekend because it falls between children's day and Buddha's birthday . . . very difficult to get phone numbers for these motels and I'm getting a bit shacky not having one booked. Do you reckon it'll be ok to go without booking? I kinda think how could all the accommodation in Seoul be booked out? But if I'm wrong . . . .

How is that area nowadays? I use to go there and find great motels. But then I started getting resistance a couple of years ago. (We're full; no rooms available, etc.) Seemed like the whole area started putting up discrimination barriers or something against foriegners. Are they ok now? I may try to stay there again if they've smartened up. I had to book hotels online which was far more expensive. Please let me know if you've stayed there recently with no problems. I think the name was the PAV and a couple of others I can't remember.

OP you can use asiarooms.com if you want. They have a map so you can search my location. There are a few love motels listed near the terminal there.

However, I still doubt very seriously you wont be able to find a place. I can't explain how it's literally, just one after another there for about 4 or 5 blocks. It's an endless array of them. I've never heard of the golden weekend thing, but Koreans that travel (maybe to see family and such) wont stay at a love motel. They will spend more than they should and stay at a normal hotel or at one of those traditional houses hotel types. For some reason, they see the love motel as only to be used for, ahem... well, you get the idea. To them, if you want to put on the face of respectability, you would never stay there. They know foreigners love to just use them as normal hotel rooms, but it just never crosses their mind to use it that way. Especially if they have kids. You'd never see a Korean family staying in a place like that.

So book ahead of you like, but I promise you there will be rooms open everywhere. I don't know where in Korea you're coming from. maybe a small town? Have you been to Seoul before? Maybe you don't understand just how incredibly large Seoul is? It is a huuuuge city.
