I doubt that I would really do this, but I'm considering all of my options. I'm planning to take a month long TEFL course before I return home and even then, it's just for a visit and I plan to come back here. She could travel with me, or she could stay with a friend. My preference is to have her with me. She requires a lot of attention. |

Let her stay with your friend. Probably the best for your munchkin. |

I found a place where she can stay and our room is on the ground floor opening out into a garden so that I can take her outdoors when it's nice. I may stay there awhile! |

Ship? As in freight? Not go with you on the same plane? (Ship?)
Please don't do this. I've heard most animals die. |

Do not try to scare people by telling them most animals die when they are in the cargo of the plane. You are either misinformed or lying for your own sick pleasure. Most animals arrive at their destination perfectly fine, although they really need to go to the bathroom when you pick them up. Of course there have been some cases where an animal did sadly pass but there were usually other factors involved as well (a very young animal, or one that already had health problems or was not used to being in a crate). There are rules about what kind of crate you can use to keep situations like that from happening.
If the OP or anyone would like more information or support about shipping a pet home from Korea, PM me. |

Lying for my own sick pleasure?
My post was short; perhaps not informative enough, but I thought the OP was talking about literally "shipping" a pet home, NOT having it go in the cargo section of a commercial plane.
I met someone who was going to "ship" her cats to China this way, and have been haunted by the idea ever since. |

My friend shipped his two pitbulls from Puerto Rico to Korea. From PR to NYC they rode cargo with the luggage but from NYC to Incheon they rode on a cargo plane. They are both alive and health today.
My wife and I shipped an Afghan hound from Incheon to LA on a cargo plane. The dog was too big to fit in an XXL kennel. We had one built for him. He is alive and well and now lives in Oregan.
The Bull Terrier I have in my home as a foster came from Jeju to Daegu on a regular flight in the cargo hold. She is a handful.
There are compaies here in Korea that arrange this since this is a requirement for shipping pets.
This one is a vet: http://www.cwhospital.com/
Then this: http://www.ipata.com/search-on-line-for-a-pet-shipper
And this one is a company (this is the one we used for the Afghan Hound): http://www.petairline.co.kr/
If you are coming back to korea, you might be able to find a long term sitter. |

ignore the fear mongering of the other poster. korean air has been providing temperature controlled cargo section for pets for a while now and treats them with special attention such as an employee always being present through the loading process ect. I've shipped around my dog three times already and has always been a hassle free process. you wanna ask around on what the required documents are but the airline itself requires none and korean air is but just one option. don't leave your pet behind- you don't wanna regret it because you didn't bothered to sweat over small stuff. |

I tried to ship my dog home on a Korean Air flight, but they made bosingtang (Dog Soup) with it and served it on the plane. (drum roll & laugh track)
Just kidding. I think Korea rocks. |
