Hey guys. I never thought I would actively pursue teaching in Korea but now I am really serious about it. My friend up and decided to do it...I found out from his sister after he had left! lol...haven't been able to coordinate talking to him about it but I hear he is having a good experience. Not sure if he is at a public/hagwon/uni....

Anyway, I've already applied to several teaching jobs...I have an MA in Applied Linguistics with a TESOL cert (for adults). If I look at teaching adolescents or other minors English, do I need to have an American public school teaching certiication? I do not have that....the cert that I do have is for teaching adults. I just want to broaden my application pool if I can if public school cert is not required.

A teaching cert is NOT required to teach ESL in Korea.

Thanks....and I have another question. I have been browsing and browsing a lot lately and it appears that the consensus on recruiters is to be cautious but if you choose to use one, use many (for private schools) but stick to one for public schools.

My question is this: I have already signed up for several recruiters for Korea online after submitting basic stuff (resume, cover letter, a photo in some instances).....some focused on privates, others publics, others both. My question is, by just signing up for these, do they all instantly start sending out this info to public schools for consideration, or would I have to do something additional for them to pursue a public school position? I hope I am being clear. The reason I ask is because, after just finding out that it's best to just use one recruiter if I want to be considered for a public school, I would hate to be disqualified because 100 agencies sent out my credentials to them.

As of yet, I have only submitted basic info to these recruiters. ONE of them, (Navi ESL) called me and chatted with me briefly on the phone, but that was it...the rest of them, I have not even received an email from.

Should I be considered at this stage if multiple submissions are being received by EPIK in my name or should I not be worried at this stage?

I think you're with no recruiter for now (for PS jobs). When you have signed EPIK application (a document about 30 pages long) and gave it back to the recruiter, then you'd be with that recruiter for the PS jobs.

ah okay. Thank you. I was a bit worried at first. I have signed up for several recruiters and will sign up for more and only move forward with one once they progress inthe EPIK process then...thank you!
