Excited for my first post! So I'm applying directly through EPIK. I was arrested in 2009, completed PTI requirements for a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge and the case was marked as dismissed when completed. I filed for a background check when I went to get fingerprinted two weeks or so ago and nothing shows up on the state criminal database.
That being said, I was fingerprinted so I'm sure that will pull.
How serious are they about past drug arrests in Korea? Obviously, I can and will pass all drug tests now, but am I automatically shut out?
Are there any more lenient countries that will look past my arrest record (albeit dismissed and clean record)??? |

If your record is clean, you're in. If your record shows a drug offence, you're out. Period. |

It's not the state background check you need to provide for a visa; it's the FBI check. Order your FBI CBC. If the thing doesn't show any arrest, never mention that arrest to anyone ever. If it does show an arrest, apply for work in another country. |

Correct.
To reinforce the point however: if there is a criminal charge on your file, you will be denied a visa.
As for other countries that are more lenient, the list is long!
China will not check this as far as I am aware.
You need to check with each country and read up on their various websites what their regulations are. |

You are talking about a state check, but immigration now requires an FBI check. |
