I ordered one off of Auction.co.kr website. This thing is sweet. Its fast, thin, and has almost no sound/vibration.

The only problem I see is that its only 320gb. I read that a 500gb version was coming out this summer.

overpriced unless you have a USB 3.0 port on your computer

but if you do, it is a nice deal.

I just picked up a similar drive and let me say, USB 3.0 is AMAZING.

USB 3.0 is backward compatible. So, you could still use it and not worry about buying a faster one when you upgrade your computer.

One thing I love about Seagate GoFlex drives. The drive and the cable are interchangeable. Another added benefit is that the GoFlex Cable will work with any 2.5" laptop drive. You don't even need the enclosure!

No crap. But you can buy a USB 2.0 device with twice the memory capacity for half the price.

Like I said, it is only worth the cost if you have USB 3.0 on your computer NOW. If you only upgrade a year or two from now the cost of these HDDs will come down significantly since USB 3.0 will be standard.

I got one. I only have USB 2.0 ports on my desktop. I bought it because its light, thin, and easy to tote around. I think it was totally worth it. I could get something with twice the space for half the price. It would also be twice as thick and twice as heavy.

it would be about the same size...

the size of this thing isnt revolutionary, there are already plenty of products out there using laptop HDD to be thin enough to fit in your pocket.

You paid an extra 30-40 bucks because it has a USB 3.0 capabilities.

Another advantage of this Slim GoFlex, in addition to a slim body, is their compatibility when used in Windows operating system and also the Macintosh, although the actual hard drive is still using the NTFS format.

Indeed Macintosh operating system users can only perform activities of reading (read) to NTFS formatted drives, but Seagate has entered into a software GoFlex Super Slim is so Mac users can also write to the hard drive activity this.

This is an added value, because before the user can only write to your hard drive activity of type FAT32.

9mm versus 12mm...

I dont see the different. Both fit in your pocket. Show me an application that a 9mm drive will have that a 12mm doesnt. Not to mention you can get double the storage space for a few more mm.

Plain and simple, it doesnt cost more because it is 3 mm thinner. It costs more because it is USB 3.0 ready. If you dont have a USB 3.0 slot now, you paid too much.

9mm versus 12mm is a big difference. Thats why companies (especially cell phone makers) charge a premium for products that are thinner.

Also, its a GoFlex, so later when Seagate releases their Thunderbolt cable, I don't gotta go out and buy a whole new external drive.

Also, that USB 3.0 GoFlex Slim adapter fits perfectly on any SATA bare laptop hard drive. I got a 1TB drive sitting on my bookshelf for backup purposes. I just plug the GoFlex Slim adapter into that 1TB drive, and can backup my data without having to turn off my computer, open the case, plug it in, restart, etc...

To me, there are more benefits than just the "size". So, I think it was a worthwhile investment.
