|
|
I want to spend a few days on an island in the South-west of Korea. I will spend a night in Mokpo, then hopefully travel to one of the islands and spend 2-3 nights there. I want a quiet place with nice scenery and of course accommodation availability.
Any feedback appreciated |

Just got back from a quick visit to Mokpo. Took a quick 3 island tour for 9000 Won. Love Island offers homestays and camping. You can literally walk around the entire island in under 30 minutes. Other than that... your best bet is Wando or Jeju from Mokpo. |

Also, if you end up staying in a motel, there is no shortage of them. For a city with less than 300,000 people, they have over 100 in the two dongs I've visited. |

Jeju Island can be easily reached from Mokpo. The ferry that takes you to Jeju Island is next to the one for Hongdo and Haksando. It's a sit on the floor and drinking card game event. You'll most certainly run into an ajoshi drinking soju and that disgusting raw stingray,
Hongdo- a Little off the beaten track. Lovely island famous for fresh Sashimi right out of the sea. Take the ferry around the island and buy the raw fish with gochujang and soju. The rock formations and beautiful.
Haksando- Similar to Hongdo but slightly bigger a little less rigged coastline.
Koje-do- Has a big foreigner community. Meeting up with the engineers in the ship building business is a nice change from being with ESL Teacher and soldiers. This island is the most foreigner frendly place in Korea. A teaching job here would be a real steal. |
