Hi there, I just graduated from a university in Wisconsin with my B.A. and I have been planning to teach in Korea afterwards but I have a big problem. I got my federal cbc back recently and I have a misdemeanor conviction of reckless endangerment and some dismissed charges all from one incident when I was 17. I haven't been in trouble at all since and my record was expunged yet it still shows on my background check. It seems from my research that in Wisconsin, getting something expunged, isn't very valuable as your expunged convictions can still be found by anyone fairly easily. Anyone have any insight on this or does anyone know if I may be able to get a job teaching in Korea still? I have been to Korea before and have many Korean friends that could write letters and vouch for me.

Also for those people who think anyone convicted of a crime in their life are terrible people who deserve what they got I have this to say. I was just a kid playing with soda bottles, tin foil, and toilet bowl cleaner. I didn't hurt anyone or attempt to hurt anyone. No property was damaged. There were no victims. Besides this one time I have never been in trouble with law. I have yet to get a speeding ticket. I don't do drugs and rarely drink. I completed my probation and community service with no issues and went on to graduate college while dreaming of someday teaching English in Korea and hanging out with my friends there. I was lied to by police and I had a bad lawyer that threw me to the sharks. I was also told that this all would be expunged and I wouldn't have to worry about it again. Now it seems that expungements do almost nothing, and this will follow me forever. Sorry for the long post

Despite what you say, Korean immigration probably won't see it that way...unfortunately.

Sorry man but I would not bet on getting an E-2 visa.

However, there are other options.

1. China
2. Japan
3. Thailand
4. Eastern Europe

Best of luck, OP.
