Smoking cigarettes is the cause of so much preventable, deadly disease. But now new research shows sitting for long stretches of time may be just as dangerous.

That's why it's so healthy being a teacher. Lots of standing up in front of classes.

Exactly. Walk around and smoke in class. It's all the same, anyway Smile

Humans had done so little sitting until the modern age. Now we gotta even sit to crap! Among its diseases is hemorrhoids.

It's definitely good to go for a long walk or get some kind of exercise. I try not use the P.C. for too long. If I am going to sit, I think it's better to sit outside. We're too sedentary. It's also bad for your back and posture if you don't move around.

My mum spent most of her life standing, and she has a lot of varicose veins. I'd take these articles with a pinch of salt. If you know your lifestyle is unhealthy, you KNOW it... You don't need a newspaper or book to tell you so.

its does make sense but one big factor is Exercise

i myself still smoke but exercise almost everyday which is a huge Catch-22

whereas sitting in one place for a long time probably could be counteracted by exercising

about Gamers and smoking...i know a lot of those
