JK, your lifts are great. Where do you train and do you compete at anything?

I train at a hole in the wall gym near Bangbae station. I don't compete and I just lift mostly as stress relief and as a really fun hobby.

Hey Jk3587, I can't send private messages.

But I live in Anyang. The gym I go to is one of the better ones for sure. I have old videos, but when I did touch and go deadlifts. If you want to get a deadlift session in one day just send me a private message lol.

All the best.

My pet peeves are the following:

* EVERY person STARING at me, waiting for me to break something, so they can call the cops or get me banned from the gym.
* If I'm using a bench or something, EVERYONE suddenly wants to use that bench. Even if they have just walked by and seen me for the first time, I can see their eyes fixate on me, and they come over to make a competition out of it (Korea vs. America). This is fine with me, go ahead and alternate sets with me. I'm not trying to hog anything. The hilarious thing is that they will lay on the bench press, take deep and long breaths - and seemingly enter some sort of meditation trance. Then, they lift the weight like one inch thirty times and set the weight down. Then, they just lay there or sleep there until their next set, as if they're not sharing it anymore. I've been in a few arguments with people who want to sleep on the bench. It's annoying as hell.
* Weak lifts which are followed by that person staring at you with a look that seems to say, "You moth********, you could never do that!" But, clearly they are total weaklings who are living in a fantasy world.

You sound a bit paranoid. Laughing

Maybe, you're the one living in a fantasy world?

A$$ to grass, my friend. Do it for me.

My poor knee can't do squats anymore. How much does your gym cost, JK?

I'm not paranoid, but I do have a high sense of alertness when these people are near me and staring at me. I don't give them any reason to try to screw over the American.

I hate getting thrown out of the gym because I'm too muscular; I make others envious.

My pet peeve is that I can't find a gym in my city to go to and complain about!

What I would give to see somebody dry their pubes with a hairdryer. I'd lend them my comb.

Take a bus to another city, find one, and complain away.

Just don't forget your comb!

Yikes! That's nuts, man. Maybe I'll just stick to lifting at home.

Time to complain. Can't help it.

1) Pudge, with no definition at all, thinks he's Adonis, so poses and looks in mirror every 5 minutes. Only works out 15-20 minutes, then leaves.
2) For some, more dedication to cell phone than working out. Seems like it anyway. It's the young girls and metrosexual guys.
3) Drying privates and ass crack. I wouldn't touch the dryer with iron gloves.
4) Generally speaking, manners of a Cro-Magnon in the shower. Stop spittin' and snortin' and brushin' your teeth, and shaving.
5) Old guy sitting buck naked in shower washing gym clothes.
6) Stop spanking the monkey in the shower when you think you're alone. To be fair, only witnessed once.
7) The ankle warm up for one minute. Next step bench press.
8) Run for 1 minute at 14-16 km. Done.
9) Lifting weights only 3-4 inches per rep. I could be wrong, but how does that work?
10) Putting on too much weight, screaming like an Olympian, and letting the weights crash down.
11) Caressing your partner's muscles to make sure their form is A+ excellent. Guys, that looks kind of creepy. On a related note, your friend can moisturize himself thank you very much.
12) The bench is for exercising, not resting your cell phone, ipad, and water bottle, and locker key. I secretly want to toss it all out the window.
13) Swinging or slinging weights that are too heavy for you. I just don't see the benefit.
14) Finally--stop singing!

It's not all bad though. No one gives me a hard time. Everyone is pretty friendly and I'm treated like anyone else. I feel normal because if there's any interaction, it's usually in Korean, not bad English. The majority of people do workout and don't go for social hour. The gym is stocked with just about everything I need. Music is ok. I pay less than 40k a month (6 months at at time) at a place that's fairly new and clean.

Was working out last weekend in the apt. gym and there were two kids in the weight room with their dad (ages 3 and 6, maybe?). They were talking ..and sometimes shouting (as kids do)... and that didn't phase me too much. But I had to call them on it when the boy way swinging on the lat pulldown and the little girl playing on the other machines.

I could not believe that the father didn't see the danger in all of that.
