I ordered a couple of copies of the FBI background check and had them sent back home. With the end of my current contract coming up soon I'm going to need to get them apostilled. I've seen some posts here that say that you need to mention to the FBI that you need their authentication, or seal, or something like that, but I don't remember requesting that. So am I screwed for getting the apostille for it? |

you have to send a letter with the application asking the FBI to place thier seal on the CBC otherwise they won't do it. If they haven't processed your application yet you can e-mail them and tell them what you need. Another thing if they have already been sent don't open the package, maybe you can have them notarized by someone else if they are still sealed in the envelope. Email the U.S. Secretary of State about it. |

The application was processed a while ago and the copies are back at my home in the States. I put off apostillizing them because I didn't realize I was doing anything wrong in the process :/ I tried having my mom notarize them at city hall back home, but apparently they said I have to do that in person. |

Make sure that they can be notarized first and that you can get them apostilled with the notary you're using. If it can be done then you'll have to fly back as soon as you can. Maybe you could fly back over the weekend and a couple of days off. Unless you have time to send off another application to the FBI, I don't know what else you can do. If you do send off another application, write your congresswoman/man they should be able to speed it up. Usually just the processing part takes no more than two months, they should be able to make it faster. Have your family help you send it from place to place by Fedex. MAKE sure in the application you write a letter to get the CBC sealed. I don't know why the ****** don't just do it routinely since it can be very seriously important. You're taxpayers dollars at work. |
