Does anyone know how to go about getting a Korean Xbox 360 repaired by Microsoft here in Korea?
My beloved Xbox 360 just started freezing up mid-mission in GTA and Ninja Gaiden 2. I pulled the HD off it, tried a few restarts, let it cool off, and then...(dun dun DUNNNN)...got the Red Ring of Death!
I emailed Xbox support twice now, but they're pretty much useless. I got a form letter back both times with very little information on whom to contact.
It's a Korean xbox, and it was manufactured in december of 2006, so it should be covered under the 3-year extended warranty for the Red Ring of Death...the only problem is, I can't find a number to contact here in Korea. If anyone knows the number or how to go about it, I'd be very thankful. My Korean's still lousy so I'm having a helluva time navigating the Korean xbox site.
~thanks! |

00368 440 0090 :- a number of options ( in korean) but eventually you get through to an english speaker and from there the process is easy.
They require the serial number and then they will email you instructions on where to send the console. I was given a choice of repair or replacement - took replacement and had it delivered a week later.
No charge.
* Replacement machines are from early manufacture dates ( mine is 2005) so expect future overheating problems a definite possibility.
Thank you for contacting Xbox Customer Support. We have received your request for service.
Recommended Packaging Instructions (KOREA)
1. REMOVE any Game/DVD from console (if possible);
UNPLUG/REMOVE all connections/ accessories AC Cord / power supply (360 only), AV Pack, Wireless Controllers, DVD remote (V1 only); REMOVE Hard Disk Drive (HDD), Memory Unit (MU) if attached. If you have a custom faceplate, remove the custom faceplate.
Under no circumstances attempt to open the console by removing labels, screws or clips as this will void your warranty.
2. We recommend that the XBOX console be placed in a plastic bag.
3. If you were instructed to include accessories by XBOX Customer Support, pack these together with the XBOX console.
DO NOT INCLUDE ANY ACCESSORIES UNLESS YOU WERE INSTRUCTED TO DO SO BY THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE.
4. The XBOX console should be packed in a suitable cardboard box using bubble wrap or other material to ensure a snug fit.
5. Please include the following information on a piece of paper inside your package:
 Name
 Telephone number
 Console serial number
 Call reference number
Write down the address on the box below:
Modus Link Korea 4 La #208, Sihwa industrial complex, Seonggok-Dong, Danwon-Gu, Ansan-Si, Gyeonggi-Do, Korea Zipcode: 425-836
6. Please contact our courier CJ GLS on 1588-5353 (Toll free) to organise pick up of your faulty console.
Home page: www.cjgls.co.kr
Note: It is the customers responsibility to ensure that the console is adequately packed. Damage caused through inadequate packaging will void the warranty.
Please keep the invoice after you have sent the console. |

I sent my 360 in and had a new console in a week. Watch out for DRM issues. |

Ok so after finally having success with the search function I found this thread. I just wonder if anyone with a U.S. console has been successful in using this number? |

Bump... The phone number did not work for me. Does anyone know where I can get the Korean customer support number? Been looking for a decent amount of time! |

It only works from a cellphone, not landline, weird I know but that's the only way. I had a U.S. console get the RROD and had to ship it to Japan on my own dime but otherwise it was fixed. |

My U.S 360 died last year and I had to ship it to Japan as well. I think its because of the voltage difference (Japan has 110v like the States).
In the end, after a week of searching numbers, 2 weeks to be repaired and $160 later, the process was too long and costly. I ended up buying 2 new US 360s over the summer, now if you breaks, I have 2 extra and can get it repaired for cheap when I visit home... Ya, I'm that much of a geek/loner. |

Finally got through. This is some bullshit right here, though.
Apparently there is only 1 English operator. Apparently he will be busy for the next 45 minutes. And apparently Microsoft Korea's phones are terrible. I could barely hear the person through him cutting in and out! |

It's much cheaper to have it fixed here in Korea.
Costs 85,000
Voids warranty
But done in 24 hrs! |

Called 080-791-0880 (Xbox service)
Hit Prompt #1
Then Prompt #4
Guy answered in Korean and quickly switched to English.
1. Asked for my name (use ("a" like "apple") - to avoid mistakes)
2. Phone number
3. If the xbox is Korean???
4. Serial Number
5. He will check warranty (it's 3 years from date of purchase not manufacture date)
6. Address
7. Email
8. Sends email with receiving address.
9. Send your xbox and power brick
10. Wait one week for replacement.
My experience was painless. |
