I quit my job and visited immigration about 5 days later to inform them verbally. The officer told me I had 30 days to exit Korea.
I called immigration by phone (1345) to enquire about getting a C4 visa. They said that my E2 visa is still current. There appeared to be no notice of my 30-day exit order on my file on their computer.
So I'm confused. If I can stay beyond the 30 days without hassle, I will. Otherwise, I'll keep my word and exit before 30 days is up.
Does anyone have any similar experience? |

This all depends on the school. This isn't like a relationship where you can say "we are finished" and then take your toys out of the sandbox and leave.
You still need to work with the school to find out when they will cancel your visa. They only real thing you can do by yourself is leave before the 30 days and hand in your ARC card at the airport. |

You have 30 days from the day your visa is cancelled. Basically, if your visa is cancelled, then you are on a Tourist visa. You can no longer legally work. However, the only two ways a visa can be cancelled is by your school filling out paperwork at immigration or you handing in your ARC card at the airport. If your school never cancels the visa, you can stay here as long as you want and immigration would be none the wiser. Just be careful.. the fines for overstaying your visa are steep.
N.B. I left a hagwon for family reasons, and they never cancelled the visa. When I came back 8 months later, my visa was still valid (I never turned in my arc card), so when I got a new job, i just had to transfer it. |
