All Universities in North Korea have been shut down until April, 2012, and all students must work in construction projects without pay. There were grumblings up student uprisings over growing hunger on campuses, so students have been separated completely from one another.

China has also bought riot gear from China recently, and police presence in Pyeongyang has been stepped up.

The beginning of the change has begun....

Laughing

Is it the beginning of the end, the end of the beginning of the end, or just the beginning of the beginning of the end?

Nah.

North Korea ain't Tunisia, they don't have cellphones, pagers and internet access.

Change is highly unlikely in such a uniform toe-the-line society that stresses the importance of unlimited self-sacrifice.

Wow. That's a pretty desperate move.

I'm sure they'll explain it away as a "spirit of the laborer" or something.

You gotta wonder how far they can push the people.

It appears... quite far.

There was a report a week or so ago that members of the army are forcing people on the street to give them food. I don't remember where I saw the report.

They didn't have cellphones, pagers, and internet access in Paris in 1789 either, but that didn't stop them. Still, I agree it is highly unlikely, but with the massive food shortages, you never know.

The report that the universities are closed made me feel a little nostalgic. Back in the spring of '70 all (or most) American schools were closed because of the shootings at Jackson State and Kent State and we didn't have to take finals. Good times.

Sunrise looks completely different depending on whether you approach it from early in the morning or extremely late at night. It all depends on your point of view. Very Happy
