My situation:
Got a "university" job. Discovered it was not a real university position at all, but actually a hagwon job masquerading as a university position. Being overworked for crap pay, having to deal with micromanagement, usual hagwon B.S., etc. Have no time to finish my Masters degree and would like to switch to a job with a lighter schedule for the fall.
Reaching the six month point on my and am particularly interested in obtaining an afterschool position (considering all the extra prep I have to put I have to put in for this job, though, even a standard 12-8 hagwon position with NO WORK outside of the normal teaching day would be fine by me).
My primary question:
If I wanted to switch jobs AFTER the six month point in my contract, would it still require me to gather a whole new set of documents again? Also, would a letter of release be required by current employer?
Keep in mind, I do not wish to cancel my visa entirely. Rather, I only wish to TRANSFER it to a new employer.
Thanks |

If you don't mind me asking, how did the University mislead you?
Did they say you would be teaching university credit courses, or were you assigned to the English language institute part of the University?
I'm asking because I'm going to be starting at a University in September, and they do have an "English Institute" as well.
They did say though that I would be teaching university credit courses.
You do have to get a letter of release in order to transfer to another job without having to get documents done again as long as you haven't left the country for more than 3 months; which of course you haven't.
Good Luck! |

The ONLY way you can transfer is with a LOR.
No LOR means leave, cancel your visa on the way out (by turning in your ARC) and re-applying all over again for a new visa.
The good news is that IF immigration has an apostilled (photo)copy of your degree AND an apostilled national CBC you may not need to replace them (but you may and it depends entirely on the employer and the immigration officer working when your application lands on his desk).
