If you test positive for 1 or more STDS, can they legally kick you out of Korea? Of course, HIV and AIDS. |

Can they = yes, you are not a citizen.
Will they = depends.
Can they refuse your ARC = yes.
Will they = depends.
You can also be refused entry or placed into quarantine if you come through the airport and are running a fever from flu (although it doesn't happen often).

Every time I've ever had to get an ARC, the immigration officer made a fairly big deal about finding the HIV test results on my health check. I'd say your chances are close to nil if you have HIV and are trying to work here legally. |

what does teaching have to do with having an STD or the big one?!! Does anybody else find this law draconian? If Douglas H. Brown and the other big names in EFL/ESL had the big one, or a driving disqualification would they too not be given a visa?!! I guess they would qualify for the E1 so they don't have to provide either of these documents. If I was on an E2 these days I wouldn't be bothered with the b.s. that is korea!!! |

If Immigration finds out you have AIDS they will ship you out of here immediately. |

If you have gonorrhea or clamadyia, I highly doubt they would care, much less kick you out. Actually, I had those diseases several times here (asian condoms break easily) and never had a problem with the hospital calling immigration on me. The cure was about 10,000 won, due to national insurance (thanks korean tax-payers!!!)
AIDS, that might be another matter. |

Not to be judgemental or anything, but I think you should up your standards. You must be chasing some dank ass tail, or getting chased by something dank. |

That might make a permanent record. I'd guess so. |

Yes, probably. Who cares.
I think immigration has better things to do then go through the paper records of hospitals looking for patients with Clamydia/Gonnarhea.
And by the time that happened, the person would have been treated and no longer have the disease, so they couldn't be deported.
I already renewed anyways, so getting minor infections over here WILL NOT be a problem with immigration. |

I just got my health check for the new year and one of the things they apparently tested for was STDs.
My other hospital didnt test for them so maybe it depends on where you go. |

I went for a pap smear and ultrasound last year and they didn't bother to check for STD's. |

They can deny you entry, deny a visa, and deny an ARC if you have HIV.
However, if you already have those things and get HIV after, they can't cancel it or ship you out (of course, they can deny you a new visa/arc.) And if you're working at a school with children, you can have your visa and ARC cancelled because teachers of children can't have any communicable blood disease. So they aren't "shipping you out" but they are just making you follow the law. You can teach adults (if any school would hire you) and working on any other visa is okay (again, only if you had the visa first and then tested positive.)
This changed after a Chinese factory worker came in legal. Tested positive for HIV later. The authorities came to take him away and he fled. He fell from the roof of the factory he was working in and died. Since then the law has changed.
As far as I know, the rules are the same for Hep C and TB as well. But that's pretty much it. I knew a very unlucky guy that came down with chlamydia, hep a, hep b, and e.coli all inside 2 years. Not a word from immigration. |
