I'm considering selling off two netbooks and a Sony E-reader to purchase either a Samsung Galaxy Player 70 or an iPad2 but I can't decide which is better.

The Android Market looks cheezy and underdeveloped. The Apple App Store is slick and the apps are all vetted by Apple before they can be sold. I also already have an iPod Touch 2G (which crashes when viewing bigger pdf files... would an iOS update fix this?). And, I'm no fan of I-Tunes.

Does Android have the edge in apps? Most of the stuff I've seen doesn't seem to compare to Apple. I mean, Apple has several gorgeous games, like Monster Hunter: Dynamic Hunting. Does Android have anything comparable?

I want the device for Skype, media, games and e-reading. The form factor of the Galaxy Player 70 seems much more commute friendly than the iPad.

Would need to see a price comparison. How much can you get each device for?

The biggest reason for the price difference is that the galaxy player 70 is Samsung's version of the ipod touch but with a 5" screen, and two much better cameras. I don't know about how internal hardware compares. I've played with it a lot and would consider it as a substitute for my ipod, but it's not the same as an ipad.

The ipad has a bigger screen, connected to the itunes store, has better peripherals, better hardware(?guess?), and the battery is better.

The galaxy player is smaller so it's more portable. It's screen is big enough to look at but still able to put in a pocket. It's camera is a huge improvement over the ipad.

If you want games, the ipad is going to blow the Galaxy player away simply with the number of games available for it. The Android store does have some games, but nowhere near what apple offers. That said, other apps for android are just as plentiful and good if not better (more customizable) than apple apps.

Yeah, if you're into games definitely go Ipad

Android has plenty of games too of course and a lot of ipad games were already transfered (or will be transfered) to android market, but it will take time.

I am however an android fan for several reasons:
1 - customizable to whatever you want it to be
2 - amazing apps (even compared to iphone/ipad)
3 - can be flashed to work twice as fast at least, so any game runs fast
4 - no limit to what it can play, e.g. for ipad 2, once ipad 3 comes out, you won't be able to play certain games anymore (that's what happened to my itouch 2g too, i couldn't play 3gs titles anymore). on android, everything works the same
5 - android has much more potential at the moment and is being developed a lot faster (with the exception of games)
6 - apple is an evil company that overcharges you for simple functions...just thought i'd throw this in there too. I sort of stopped using apple products when I found out that I had to pay for an IOS update on my Itouch 2g. something that should have come free anyway.
