I've been teaching English in various educational situations in Korea for several years - public schools, college, camps, private bi-lingual elementary school. But I've had a new situation come up that I don't know about, so I thought I'd ask here. On Tues. after the holiday, I'll call up KIMMI and ask them, but maybe I can find out here sooner than that.

I have a friend that's married to a Korean, so he has an F visa. He's been working at a corporate job that he will be leaving soon. I am currently looking for a new job. He wants to recommend me as his replacement. So, my question is whether this type of job - full-time teaching of English to employees at a company - can only be filled by a teacher with an F visa or can it be filled (legally) by someone who doesn't have F visa status.

Thanks very much if you know the answer and can tell me.

It can be filled by an E2 teacher (you may get switched to E7 but I doubt it).
The employer just has to satisfy Kimmi that they need you, a Korean can't do the job and are willing to be your sponsor (not needed for F-visa holders).

Thanks, ttompatz. I always respect your breadth of knowledge about these Korean employment issues and your kind willingness to share it.

What kind of experience/qualifications do these jobs typically require?

Experience teaching in a business English context and/or perhaps a major in business. Universities are screaming out for MBAs and PhD holders to teach their courses too.
