so, I got a job and they want me to send off all my bits and bobs.

However, I only just looked at my CBC and my date of birth is incorrect.

Its a year out, 86 instead of 85.
Now, it will take almost two weeks to get another check completed. Bureacracy and what not.

The recruiter has told me that speed is of the essence to secure the position.

Should I just send it with the incorrect date and hope for the best while feigning ignorance should it become an issue?

Or tell them I need more time to get my affairs in order, which will most likely result in said job evaporating.

Advice and sage words welcome

Definitely don't say a word, go with the flow and send in the incorrect CBC. Koreans aren't very good with numbers anyway, and things in Korea are not quite as checked as they are in Western countries.

In the meantime, apply for a new CBC. Nothing to lose going this route and if it comes up later, then just say you didn't realise. Korean officials generally don't like making extra work for themselves, so even if somebody notices the mistake, they may very well turn a blind eye.

I agree with offtheoche, just take a chance.
If you tell them, you probably won't be approved-if you say nothing, at least you'll have a chance.
Do get another in the mean time though, just in case.

Any job that will evaporate that fast is NOT likely one you want to fill anyway.

DO NOT BELIEVE any recruiter when they tell you that speed of of the essence (unless you already have a signed contract in hand).

There is NO rush and NO shortage of jobs in ESL/EFL in Asia.

As to using the incorrect CBC, IF it is discovered (now or in future) you will be put into a position where you may lose your status of sojourn (and need months to get a replacement while you are abroad).

Can you get away with it = maybe.
Would it be worth the risk = no.

Suggestion, use it but make darn sure you apply for a corrected one and get an apostille on it BEFORE you come to Korea and then make sure it gets into your immigration file ASAP.
