Hi,
I'm interested in volunteering with folks (kids, adults) who have special needs (physical or mental, or even just assisting with post-injury rehab or medicine). Working with such folks is a required prerequesite for entry into a physiotherapy program, which I'm interested in doing as a post-ESL career.
Can anybody recommend a volunteer program or organization, hopefully based on personal experience? I guess it doesn't have to be in Asia, and I can (should?) go back to Canada and do it there.
I know, with something like this there's always a risk of encountering dishonesty, but I just thought I'd check and see if anybody here has had a decent experience volunteer experience abroad.

Unless things have changed, CIDA used to work with and/or fund various NGOs some of which did that sort of work.
Try starting there or look at the Red Cross for programs abroad (as a volunteer).
To the best of my knowledge there is no NGO that you can work with doing that (specific) kind of work in Korea.
There ARE several orphanages who have special needs kids but they usually only use the foreigners as "English teachers".
