Some states now do digital "live scan" fingerprint scans which are supposed to go through much faster than the old ink fingerprints. I guess they are like the FIPs finger print readers now used on some laptop computers.

Has anybody used this method of getting fingerprints for the FBI check?? If so, how did you do it?

Thank you!

Both sets of prints I had done for my recent FBI check were digital scans.
I was also printed about 5 years ago(to work with the elderly)--they were also done on a digital scanner.
They were all done at regular police stations-It's very easy and they correct any smudges right there.

I'm curious--do they still 'do' ink fingerprinting??

According to the FBI site, on getting a background check, most police stations are still using paper and ink. At least they keep referring to paper and ink. I only came across digital print recording yesterday while checking with some state in the U.S. which does background checks for employment.

I had digital finger prints done at a police station using a laptop and finger scanner peripheral. Now when is the FBI and the federal government going to get up to speed to work in a time efficient manner that makes sense?

Which city and state? Did you get your CDC report with them?

Mine were done digitally. They printed out the fingerprint page and gave it to me. I sent them in just like I would the ink ones. They didn't speed anything up, they just were perfect when they printed.

I got mine done in Tacoma, WA while I was on vacation.
