Anyone done it? Is it possible? I've emailed the RoK Embassy in Hanoi, but thought I's ask on here in the meantime.
The original plan was to go to Fukuoka, but it turns out I have two weeks longer than expected before I start my new job (long story), so thought I'd consider somewhere I can stay for longer and spend less money.
Cheers! |

If you've had an E-2 in the past any consulate can give you a new one. |

I've never heard of it being an issue before, and it really wouldn't make sense for it to be. |

You'll need a visa to go to Vietnam. |

Wrong Wrong Wrong.
Another example of someone giving wrong advice. They think they know everything.
Why do people insist on doing this ? Why do people post false information?
The Korean Consulate in Cebu will not give anyone an E-2 visa unless you are a Filipino National.
So the information posted here about any consulate giving E-2 visas is wrong.

Because this is what I've read here time and time again, and what I've been told by recruiters; my apologies. |

Since we're on the subject, what about the Korean Consulate in Bangkok? Do they only process paperwork for Thai nationals, or can an American like me get stuff done there (changing my Korean visa status, for example)? |

I know a few people who've gotten new E-2s there, so it's definitely not only for Thai nationals. |

Just for reference:
I found out that the Korean Embassy in Hanoi does issue E-2 visas to foreigners. So yes, it is possible to do a visa run there.
However, one very important thing to note is that the processing time is eight working days.
I foolishly booked a return flight (out on the 2nd, back on the 13th to start my job on the 15th) before I found this out, but as my stay in Vietnam would have covered a national holiday and two weekends, it wasn't quite long enough and I had to cancel
I tried and tried to beg with the Korean Embassy in Hanoi over the phone, but they absolutely refused to do it faster.
And one other thing: they never answered any of my emails, and contacting them over the phone was a huge (and expensive) ordeal.
So, in short: yes, you can do a visa run to Hanoi. Just make sure you've got plenty of time and patience. |

Has any one ever thought of just calling immigration and getting the answer from them? |
