A favorite of mine to buy back in America. Has anyone ever seen this alcohol (it's a rum from Austria) in Korea? I live in Gwangju, but I suspect there are stores in Seoul that might have a wide selection.
Thanks! |

You can't get it here in Korea. The only place that has it is the Austrian restaurant in Itaewon. They use it for flavoring in some of their desserts. They get it from friends that come traveling from abroad. I even asked if they would sell me a bottle but they politely refused. They did give me a shot of it, impressed that I knew what it was. |

I can tell you that in the German community, this is imported by hand, meaning we rely on individual travelers to bring over bottles. I wonder if it qualifies as a restricted hazardous substance for aircraft.
So there's no hidden source in Korea (yet). |

Stroh rum, up to 80% alcohol (160 proof)
You need a lot of Bud to obtain the same effect (and Bud can actually be used to extinguish a flame, something not recommended with Stroh).
They also have Baby Stroh with only 40% (80 proof), great for sporting events and Nobel prize acceptance speeches. |

I would never suggest that somebody adjust thier tastes to like Bud better than a quality alcohol product. Actually Stroh's in America is a brand of beer. It's one of the better really cheap beers that you can buy. |

In addition to its 80% abv...it makes a really tasty beverage. If anyone has some and is willing to sell it, I'd definite buy a bottle. |

Would you settle for a Stroh's? How different could it possibly be? |

For clarification:
Stroh is an Austrian rum, available in most countries (but apparently not Korea). It's remarkably strong and has a nice flavor.
Stroh's (possessive case) is an American beer, which is owned by Pabst and terrible. |

I don't believe anyone in this thread was confusing the two. Nevertheless, thanks for the unnecessary clarification. |
