|

Hi everyone
I'm currently living in Daegu, and my ARC will expire on January 31st, 2012 (I'll leave Korea on December 18th, 2011, to go back to the UK for a couple of months).
I'll be moving to Daejeon, to start work on March 1st, working for another chain within the company. However, it will be under a new contract and new employer.
Also, my passport is set to expire on March 4th, 2013.
Basically, I have to questions:
1) how would I go about transferring employers before I leave the country? simply get a new contract from the new employer, go to immigration, and get the "change of employment" sticker put in my passport?
The new contract would run March 1st 2012 to February 28th, 2013.
Would there be an issue with this, as technically there'll be a gap from Jan 31st 2012 - March 1st 2012 where I wouldn't be covered by an employer.
I recently re-submitted documents to immigration in August 2011 (new copy of degree certificate and UK criminal record check, both apostilled).
2) My passport expires on March 4th 2013. From reading online, it seems that E2s are granted to people who have 6 months or more validity on their passport. So, if I'm right, my passport expiry shouldn't be an issue, as I'll have left the country by then?
I'll extend my passport whilst in Korea anyway, via the service for UK passport holders in Hong Kong.
Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks loads

Why? I thought the procedure was to wait until you get your visa for your new school unless the gap wasn't too long between contracts (then you can get a release letter and transfer). I am afraid your gap is too long and you may need to get all new documents again. |

No - I re-signed a second time with the same school, so immigration requested all visa documents again, especially as I originally submitted an original, not copy, of my degree (the rules changed some time which made the original not acceptable?) |

I may just see if the new school will do a contract starting Feb 1st (seeing as the boss there is good friends with my boss, who recommended me), but that I wouldn't start employment until March 1st. Possible do you think? |

Yea, that's how I have done it. You don't want things to carry on with your previous school. The new school can always help you extend your visa. |
