I'm curious how they get away with making El Pollo Loco as central to the plot as they do. |
Have you seen the recent episode (s4e8)? It's one SICKENING LONG ADVERTISEMENT for the chicken! Mmmmm, what great Chilean chicken you make, not as spicy as our Mexican variety, but so good.
There are no less than FIVE episodes which praise the taste of the chicken chain.
They must have PAID for that kind of endorsement.
No such thing as bad press, especially when your business is a reputable and popular chain making what people want, and is presented that way. Yeah, there's crime in the show associated with the restaurant TANGENTIALLY. I bet there will NEVER be a single scene of violence in the restaurant or on the premises.
It's like watching Leave It To Beaver with the product placement. What next? Willy Wonka & the Hershey Chocolate Factory? |
1. It isn't El Pollo Loco, it is Los Pollos Hermanos
2. Los Pollos Hermanos is FICTIONAL. |

yeah...even if it is a indirect correlation...better than most times TV Shows try to drop an advertisers name
BTW, if you've never had El Pollo Loco, its by far one if not the BEST chicken i've ever had
Pollo Campero ain't too bad either
if you actually pay attention to most of the product placement in Breaking Bad, its usual very subtle and sometimes ACTUALLY stays true to the show vs. the product
i.e. Pontiac Aztek that Walt drives, one of the ugliest cars ever produced by any carmaker, did poorly in sales, and they don't even make them anymore
this is staying true to the whole Teacher theme and in many other ways, its still a great show to watch |

I caught the show from the beginning and been a fan since. Walt turning out to be his own worse enemy. I think the cooking meth actually helped him, mentally at least, with his cancer.
Skyler has surprised me and she is the one of the two that is suited for the meth game. She's Walts biggest asset and he doesnt realize it. I love the Saul character. Jesse is a mess, a lot of us grew up with guys like him, wanna be gangsta, eminem types.
Its 'jumping the shark' a little but I will continue to watch it. Not sure how Gus's trucks being targeted has not escaped law enforcement. Someone had to discover the trucks out there. Gus is your criminal mastermind. |

Perhaps, but the implication is almost that the chain was founded as a front for Chilean drug dealers, even if they're using a different name for the Mexican version. If it weren't American it would be unsurprising, but considering how sensitive the American people/press are, I'm surprised they're willing to play with fire. In addition to that, El Pollo Loco is far from a national chain, and many (most) Americans will only know about the restaurant from the show, which doesn't seem like the best introduction. |

Walt is a perfect illustration of hubris leading to self-destruction. |
