|
|
My husband went to the immigration office today to apply for his F3 Spousal Visa. When he came home, he still had his passport and they had told him it would take about 4 weeks which is what happened when I went to apply for my ARC. They also made him pay 10,000Won for something he doesn't know and 50,000Won "for stamps" but when I had gone, the fee for my ARC was 10,000 I think and then to have the ARC mailed to my school was 4,000Won. I'm so confused!
Back home when I applied for my E2 visa it only took 3 days and they kept my passport to be picked up (or mailed) and they applied the visa as a sticker on a blank passport page themselves. Is it a different process here? Do they not need your passport and just send you a visa to apply yourself?? Do they process visa and ARC applications simultaneously? Does anyone have any ideas on what happened? What the hell did he apply for? What did he pay for? What are they going to send to us if he's only here on a tourist visa stamp so far? Gah. |

He is NOT getting an F3 visa.
He doesn't need to enter Korea.
He is here already.
What he is getting is a change of status (50k won) from B1 to F3 and the ARC (10k won).
With the new process they no longer keep your passport to process the ARC (since it takes 4-6 weeks). They just copy the passport and issue a note with a pickup date (or expected date of delivery) for your ARC.

Oh man, I really hope this turns out to be accurate! I expected two separate transactions (F3 first, then ARC) so this will be much easier if everything works out fine. May I ask, however, if I should expect changestto his passport so that it reflects his status as an F3 dependant? Its my impression that all E2 visas are now automatically multiple-entry and I'm curious to know if there will be anything to put in or accompany his visa to indicate the same or if we'll just have to get a re-entry permit for international travel. |

He won't have anything in his passport. The ARC is proof of legal residence and entitlement to re-entry (like a green card in the US or PR card in Canada).

Can I ask what documents do you need for the F3 (I need to apply shortly) - I've had conflicting answers from different immigration officials. |

It now takes 4 weeks to get the ARC card. I applied for mine on 20th of September down at Suwon Immi. and they told me to come back to pick it up on 19th of October.
My wife is currently in Korea on a tourist visa that expires 13th of November.
I tired to apply for her F3 spouse visa but they would not allow me to apply for it until I get my ARC.
Will immi. let me apply for her change of status from toursit to F3 on 19th of October if her tourist visa expires 13th of November or will they not allow her to apply since it now takes 4 weeks?
Im hoping we can do this without her leaving the country. |

Depends on where you are applying at.
IF you are in Korea and are applying for a change of status you need:
PROOF of family relationship (wedding certificate in Korean or English)
ARC of the sponsoring partner
both passports
proof of employment - certificate of employment of the sponsoring partner.
application
photo (may be waived) they will also take a digital photo and fingerprints when you apply.
fees.
If you are applying from abroad it will depend on the consulate and whether or not the working sponsoring spouse has an ARC or is applying for a work visa at the same time.
