It's 2500k overclocked to 4.6ghz, it idles at 29-31c and only sees the extreme temps of 68c when I am doing full load stress tests for 8 hours (prime/intel/etc). When I am playing games it is in the 40-50c range. 68c is a little hot but from what I have read is you just don't want it to go over 70 and it's not like I am running those tests all the time If I leave it at stock speed it runs much much cooler |
4.6ghz is awesome. Very impressed. Yeah. 68c after hours of prime is ok for a 2500k..........my AMD 1055T switches off at 62c. That's why I was wondering about your 68c. |

I didn't put the system together myself initially, I had it built for me. Should've just done it myself for all the things I've had to tinker with...
Gonna try and get er done tonight. Thanks for the info guys! |

| Good luck. In the future, if you want to overclock, go with watercooling. My PC's CPU is overclocked by almost 30% and the highest temp it gets at full load is 40c. Watercooling is awesome. |

Figured it out. Don't think it was a problem with the thermal compound at all. The meatheads that built my machine didnt tighten the part that holds the heatsink to the arms that screw in. Because of that, it wasn't pressed tightly against the cpu. Fixed that, down to normal temps.
Thanks for the thoughts guys. |
