Hey, so I've been warned by my ex-manager that I might be canned in my 11th month because my director has told my ex-manager that he can't afford my severance and flight home although this doesn't make sense because we still have the same amount of students we had when I started, around 70. I'm just wondering since I've got the heads up what should I do, I want to stay for a 2nd year and it was never my intention to stay on at this school for that year so should I start looking for another job now. I'm currently nearly finished my 10th month of my contract. Also if I do get the sack, what are my options if any in relation to severance, labour board etc?

Yes most definitely. Public schools are going to start looking for teachers for the spring or you could look for a decent hagwon. With another acquired position you can also be around to take the stinkin hagwon owner to court.

......................Now on to that thread about whether or not a former student should send a Hagwon owner to jail.

+1 might as well start looking, it seems. I, too, am curious and interested as to the outcome of Vix's situation - Vix has gone silent. I can understand that you don't see your school losing money or students so it seems as though money is not an issue, but there doesn't seem to be the same sensibility or logic applied in that regard in my experience here. Sorry it's happening to you and I hope you come out of it well.

Thanks, but I'm a bit worried also about looking for a new job and if my boss finds out and uses it against me, could he do that? Also do you know of any sites that I can use to find a job other than Dave's, somewhere I don't have to use a recruiter?

Ask to finish the contract in exchange for no flight home. Instead, get a letter of release so you can easily transfer to a new school. Then, after you go to the new school ask for severance. If he balks go to labor board. You'll get 1-2 months salary you wouldn't have been able to.
