I a gyopo in my late 30's and considering getting a F-4 visa and coming to Korea to find a job teaching English.
I moved to the US when I was 9 and speak English as a native... no accent...used to have a little southwestern drawl but not so much anymore.
Unfortunately, my Korean, on the other hand is not so good...like a nine year old with a learning disability.
I at one time was both literate and fluent but I lost it long ago. I am also not familiar with the culture to the extent to which would be expected of someone that look as I do.

I know how Koreans feel about gyopos that lost touch with their...Koreanness, so I am hoping to hide out at a teaching gig until I get my literacy and fluency back. So what are my outlook for...

1. Getting a job teaching English and if so best prospects...public schools or hagwons.
2. Finding something in Jeju, Busan or near the 38th on the east coast...I am a surfer.
3. Once I do get literacy and fluency back what types of jobs are there?
4. I am thinking about getting a Masters in Ed. What are my chances of getting a university job? Is it worth it or would I be better off just working in the States with it?

Yeah... trying to figure out what to do when I grow up. In my previous life I was a construction manager and not much going there these days. I would appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.

You should be fine getting an English teaching job outside of Seoul. Jeju definitely shoudn't be a problem.
