End of Oct and they're still going strong, though they are fewer in number.

Naively left my window open so as to air some laundry today and had two big loud ones bothering me and keeping me awake.

Is it just me or have they been lasting a lot longer the past 2 years??

They will go away after the first snow fall. And usually don't come back 'til the end of March/beginning of April.

I had one single mosquito in my room last night that bit me over fives times! I kept waking up to find the blighter but only after two sessions of vampiric bloodloss did I turn it into wall bits. Grrr..

I didnt think a single bug could be that hungry, but after squashing the one I found I slept like a baby. What a glutton!

Floating, take a look at this thread: http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=212278&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

The plug-in mosquito repellents we talked about work really well. It's almost so late in the year that they won't be useful for much longer, but then you'll be ready for summer next year at least.

I had to kill a mosquito yesterday even though I have a plug-in. Still, I managed to get the guy before he could bother me while I was sleeping.

I'm averaging about 4 kills a day with my electric tennis racquet at the moment. Can't stand the effin' things, but killing them like this is so much fun.

So noone else thinks they're lasting out longer in the past cpl years?

Maybe they just bother me more these days and I'm more aware of it ha ha.

Used to live in Geumsan and boy were they huge and agressive out there! In mis aug you'd sit down for a bus or somethig and there would literally be small CLOUDS of them buzzing around you, and at night there's often be up to tens of them in your apt wheter you'd left the window open or not! Where I am at the moment, they're not as bad as that.

Tigerfancini - that DOES sound like fun!

They will never ever go away....been here before us and will be here after us....some die in the cold months while others find warm wet damp places and survive to bite us again.

A mosquito net will assuage all paranoia whilst sleeping. It's the best purchase you can make.

How does the net work. Does it encourage mosquitoes to fly into it? How much are they? I don't know if I'll get one since I have the plug-in, but the plug-in isn't super effective. It's effective, but not amazingly so.
I am in the office grading papers, and there have been plenty of mosquitoes. What in tarnation are them critters doin' here?Smile Very Happy

You hang it from the ceiling and drape it over your bed. The netting is very thin with small holes; it's light enough so that if you have the windows open you can feel the breeze. The mosquitoes can't get into the net, so you sleep soundly without buzzing and bites. Because they really aren't in season now, you can get them for a BIG discount at shops. I got mine at Lotte Mart in the sale bin for 3,200 won; the original price was 30,000 won.

Kind of like a tent over your bed made of mesh. It works very well provided you keep it closed and flat on the floor (the bottom part). We have one for our kids when we visit Busan for example.

I hate cats. They would shred that mosquito net within minutes. Too bad cats don't hunt and kill mosquitos...
