My Korean bank ATM card did not work overseas.

And Yes. I was told it would and they "activated" it. One theory is, if it's past midnight Korea time, it won't work. lol

Back in '08 I was told that my Korean atm card would only work overseas during Korean banking hours.

I don't recall ever testing that but it struck me as the stupidest thing possible.

The fact that most ATMs here are not 24 hours is ridiculous.

I lost my international ATM card and replaced it and went on my second vacation and it didn't work. The korean bank didn't authorize it on the new card. Its not automatic I guess, at least at Daegu bank.

Out fear it doesn't work, I always get a phone number and the name of someone at the bank who speaks good enough english in case I have problems. I had to have a friend wire me money when my card didn't work. Not a happy camper.
