Seem to be having a few rats in the flat these days. Anyone know of a good spray or system of extermination for these tricky devils? |

If there is a rat in the flat, get a cat, and in less than 10 minutes flat, he will have the rat, and he will enjoy his meal and feel nice and fat.
All joking aside, why don't you tell your land-lord? |

Sure, catch them. You don't "spray" for rats.
When you say rat, you mean rat- big, upwards of a kilo, 10-30 cm long, a rat, right? Not a mouse - small, weighs between 10-50 grams, maybe 10 cm from tip to tail? Rats can be poisoned with pellets, as can mice, but really if you've got rats, with the size of apartments here in Korea, your best bet is to physically remove them. Find them, catch them (with long sleeves and leather gloves and pan), and take them outside. Killing them is optional, but recommended. Also, be careful. They WILL chew off their tails to escape, so don't try and carry them by the tail for too long.
If you want to poison them, you can find the poison at the store, i'm sure, near the roach poisons and what-not. But remember, if he dies and you can't find/remove him, you'll be sorry... |

Thanks for the tips kids. The thing is, I am petrified of rats, so actually touching one is out of the question, whether it be dead or alive:)
They are certainly rats, not mice. Not really massive ones but a fair size nonetheless.
One was spotted scurrying under the kitchen sink and the other was seen on the balcony. It could possibly be the same one.Not really sure.It was a nasty black rat also.
Yikes....just in time for Halloween
I thought I heard something about an anti-rat spray you could disperse around on your own.Maybe I dreamt it.....
Not cool for my first few days in the country. |

If it's not your property someone else should deal with it for you
I've got a really bad phobia of mice and rats. If I had a rat in here I'd be out of here before I even have time to pack up my stuff. I'd come back with a friend or the Terminator to pack some stuff and I'd stay in a motel until I can be sure it's been sorted.
Is it common to get mice or rats here? I haven't heard anything so maybe not |

My first place had a rat that would come up through the drainage pipe in the kitchen.
The pharmacies have a sticky paper that can catch them. I bought about 4 of them (theyre about the size of a 8x11 piece of paper. And I placed them in a square and left some food in the middle. If there is something the rat is eating specifically put that on it.
I came home and found it stuck to the paper. I drowned it a bucket of water.
The sticky paper is very, very sticky though so becareful handling it. You may also try and find out how the rat is getting into your house. I sealed the drainage pipe with that sticky paper and tape and never had another issue. My place was near a small dump where people left their junk and my guess is that attracted rats. |

Horrible advice. In Korea, the tenant is ALWAYS responsible for maintaining every aspect of the space he's renting. |

Just a word of caution, you do know that this year the Hanta virus is in a global increase. I'd be getting a fumigation and complete health check. Hanta is extremely common in Korea. Named after the Hantan-gan in Gyeongsam-namdo (disease origin).
Rats and mice both carry this disease!
Please get checked out if you come into contact with ANY mice or rats in your living spaces. Hanta virus is spread via the air. Contact with even a minute amount of mouse or rat droppings even dust can result in illness.
If you suspect for a moment you have a rat or mouse infestation in your apartment go to the doctor immediately!! Initial symptoms are flu-like and become worse. Infections are common in the late fall!! |

Them are good eaten.
Having rats and/or mice in your home is a serious health problem. You will get seriously ill sooner or later if you don't get rid of them fast. |

I a gree with Jack Sparrow.
You probably cant get the vermin with an arrow.
To be fair, itd be hard to even get it in the claro
Set a trap, nice and stacked
with some smelly soft chee
And youll lure it quite quick with a little hint of brie
You can get it at a
Mart, its just a little fee.
Eff the gloves
And the sleeves
You dont like it and youre peeved.
If they chew off their own tails
Then theyll chew their own knees.
..and the sprays
They just say
That theyll knock off a few flees.
You need to get some sticky paper
Thats your savior
It wont go free.
Dont get stuck, blow your luck
On the paper foolin round.
If you get em, use your head
Take a bucket make em drown.
You will get ill in the sack
if you have a rat running round.
Don't get ill. |
