Is there something I need to file to show that I had earnings in Korea but that they are tax exempt? I don't have anything to show for those earnings, of course, except maybe my teaching contract and my old bank books. When I came back from Korea the first time in 2008 and had my taxes done, I told the accountant that I had been working in Korea and had made money for that tax year. I think she asked me how much it was, then didn't seem worried about it and only filed my US earnings. I need to file for 2010 and I am worried about not filing something that I need to file. I was teaching in Korea again during that time. I will be sponsoring my fiance home to the US and I will be turning in my tax information. I just want to make sure that I have done everything by the book so I won't have any unpleasant surprises.

I think your best bet is to just call the IRS and ask them.
Even though some of the posters here are quite wise; you'd be better off getting your information from the experts.
Good Luck!

There are certain forms you need to get in Korea so that the tax will not have to be paid, but why not just have the same lady do them if no problems occurred?

You don't need to show a thing. You don't owe them any money so they won't be too concerned about your filing. Its more of a formality really.
