From a job advertised on Koreabridge by Independent Start Korea Inc:

http://koreabridge.net/jobs/two-open-asap-positions-seoul-gangseo-songpa-goworldyun

2. Starting Date: a teacher who can start ASAP
* people who have teaching experience are preferred.
* people who come from either America or Canada are preferred.
* Caucasians are preferred.

Note: It's really disappointing to find something like this among teacher job announcements.

Why is the three line any worse than the second line?

Why is the second line worse than "females preferred" or "females only". I see that one A LOT. (Especially for the high paying good jobs that pay 50,000 won per hour >_<). How about the preference for F visas (and the preference for females) at the university level? Is that offensive? I think it is.

I mean, I can understand for jobs like this posted on the site:

Quote:
We are searching for a good looking Caucasian Lady to distribute our service brochures at a trade show at BEXCO Busan. You need to go around bexco and tell people about our Relocation/Rental Service in Busan and hand them our brochures.

...but to prefer females for university jobs and for adult business classes is absurd. >_< (I'm mad because I want to be making the big money! $_$)

In the past when people have complained about 'female only' posts apologists came on and argued that people should be able to employ who they wanted and it was better to save people's time by saying up front where their prejudices lay etc... Those arguing against countered by bringing up a hypothetical case of 'whites only' need apply and whether that would also be acceptable. Now these ads are not hypothetical any more, will those same people come on here still claiming it's the employer's right to choose etc... I suspect they won't defend this one, but who knows?

Me! Writing a nasty letter as we speak.

Also, suggesting that a mere accent or visa preference is *just* like widespread institutionalized racism is quite a bit problematic.
