If its out of warranty then you really don't want to use the Apple center......they're known for charging more than the cost of a whole new model for some repairs.

Try the Dave's poster Jackdaniels first.

There is an Apple store in Times Square, don't know if they do repairs though.

try this place...

www.bs-iprimo.com

It is in Gangnam. I am not sure if they repair Macbooks but they repaired my ipod for 25k when the official Apple repairer quoted 168k.

Walk out of Gangnam station, exit 7. Walk straight for a block or 2 and keep your eye on the 4th floors of the buildings on the right hand side. Hopefully they can sort you out!

Thanks you everyone. I think I will try COEX first and see what happens, then explore my other options. It's not under warranty for sure. The damage isn't serious. It needs to be opened up and cleaned and I'm hoping that will fix the problem.

Been to the Apple Service center in the COEX mall and was really happy with the service. However I did go with my girlfriend, and therefore I don't know the level of English spoken. But they fixed my iPod Smile

Totally a joke. Actually Apple did a terrible job at outsourcing this place (@ Coex Mall). They know little to nothing at all about repairing Apple machines and basically have a policy of exchange (I'm willing to guess at a rate of upwards to 90%) because they simply know nothing about the Apple hardware (and seem to care very little about learning anything about it as well).

I speak Korean rather well, but spent most of my time @ the Coex Mall center calling a service center somewhere outsourced in India to give the Coex Center permission just to open the machine and fiddle with it. Once they their meaningless fingering, they said they couldn't repair a simply cord malfunction and offered to exchange the 2,000 buck machine--risking my 100% loss of data.

Evidently, they didn't even know that dealing with their outsourcing contract and machine-repair policy has nothing to do with the client and instead forced me to talk to the India service center several times to apparently renegotiate or explain their business contract.

A week later, I sent the machine to Japan and got it back in a couple of days with no problem.

If you're dealing with the Coex location, then GOOD FREEPING LUCK! YOU'LL DEFINITELY NEED IT. I'd recommend staying away from the place unless you're dealing with an iPod or some other cheaper item they've learned a bit about.

Keep the suggestions coming. Anywhere else in Seoul or Bundang for that matter that repairs Macbooks? Mine is having a few problems right now.

A friend's screen broke, and he was quoted over 600,000 won to fix it! Nice way to boost new mac sales, I guess.

This is actually cheaper than fixing a screen in the States, from the research I've done (after I broke my screen). One of the guys in Yongsan can fix it for cheaper though.
