This.

Although I have done this (back when it was possible to get the first E-2 in Japan) rules have changed and the school seems desperate.

Working on Korean holidays is just not done- you will only get a MAXIMUM of six days off if you let them give you Korean Thanksgiving and New Year and scrap the rest.

Saturdays aren't the big issue- Friday nights are. When you start to meet others their big "lets go have some fun" nights are usually Fridays. If you have to go home early for work everytime it starts to suck.

Signing the contract means little. Getting the visa is big- so unless you are holding it when you board the plane the school can do whatever they want... like change your contract before you get your visa

I find it suspicious they are saying no air con included. Thought it was standard in all newer or even semi new one rooms (studios). Is he planning on putting you in some 30 year old run down dump or some kind of yeogwan? Don't come here without air con. Some rural EPIK schools and hakwons try to pull that sh!t. Basically old building which is cheaper for them and the local ed office either keeps the difference in money or shares it with the landlord. Only old buildings in the countryside don't have air con or really trashy buildings in Seoul. You do not want to have no air con. I'd prob buy one if I had to go now. But as a newbie, you won't know about this. Trust me, insist on an air con. If they're shafting you on this, what else will they shaft you on?

Eh, I live in a nice, relatively new building, but aircon wasn't installed until last summer.

Unless you're trying to find work at a Uni or a particular location, I recommend you find a job with the least contracted work hours.

I've heard of some people getting excited cause they can tell all their friends they are making 3 mil a month. The catch is that they are teaching 40 hours a week.

I'd rather work 25 hours a week for 2.3 and spend my extra time working a high paying second job.

As a newbie he probably won't know what "air con" means either.

I don't get why people just don't type A/C....even shorter than "air con" and gets the meaning across even for those people who've never heard the term before coming here.

I don't know what you're all moaning about. If it's the place I think it is you can do far far worse than working there, trust me.

As for the Saturday thing, it'll be a set 5 day schedule with 1 day off during the week and Sunday. Unless you take the 6 day option which really isnt that bad to be honest.

OP PM me
