I just got off the phone with my recruiter. She says that under new regulations, it is now required to have two CBCs. How does this make any sense? What is the point? She says I can come to Korea with just the one right now, but they will need the second one eventually. WTF? |

Maybe she misunderstood your situation. Some people already have one and are in Korea. So when they go to another school (and even in some cases at the same school) they need to get another one because the first wasn't "official" enough. That's how 2 are needed, not at the same time though.
If you don't fit into this category, make sure they understand this. Recruiters will always tell you the worst case scenario to make sure you have enough. They don't think about addressing things on a case by case basis. |

One set with apostilles for immigration and the visa process.
A set of photocopies for the MOE/POE registration process AFTER you are in Korea.
The 2nd set is a new requirement and enforcement actually doesn't come into force (nationally) until Feb of 2012. Some POEs are starting now to get ahead of the paper crush in Feb.

Thats the thing. I asked her if they needed just a photocopy. She said, no I need to send in another request to the FBI and everything. |

The CBC is only good for up to 6 months. Perhaps your first CBC you were planning on sending to immigration will be too old by the time you actually get here to teach? For example, you had a CBC done back in July, you signed a contract that has you starting in January, so your CBC will be no good come January, when the school will need to register you. I'm doubting that is the case though.
Or perhaps your original CBC w/ apostille has already been sent to immigration. Once immigration gets their paws on it, you can't recover it and will have to do it all over again if you haven't made copies.
Chances are though, that your recruiter is unaware that photocopies are acceptable. |

Probably the last choice. I haven't even received my first CBC. I mailed it in September, so it should be here soon-ish. |

Does the second set need the apostille as well?
This is getting ridiculous... |
